About UKM: The National University of Malaysia (abbreviation: NUM; Malay: Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia; abbreviated UKM is a public university located in Bangi, Selangor which is about 35 km south of Kuala Lumpur. Its teaching hospital, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre (UKMMC) Pusat Perubatan Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (PPUKM) is located in Cheras and also has a branch campus in Kuala Lumpur. There are 17,500 undergraduate students enrolled, and 5,105 postgraduate students, of which 1368 are foreign students from 35 countries.

Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia is one of five research universities in the country.Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia opened its doors on 18 May 1970 to 192 undergraduate students in Jalan Pantai Baru, Kuala Lumpur, a temporary campus housing three main faculties, the Faculties of Science, Arts and Islamic Studies. In October 1977, UKM moved to its present premises which form the main campus in Bangi. The campus has a size of 1,096 hectares, situated in the metropolis encompassing the Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Kuala Lumpur, the main commercial centre, and Putrajaya, the administrative capital.

English Language requirement for admission in University Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM): All international students who are going to apply for UKM are required to have Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOFEL) or the test administered by the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with the minimum required score below for different levels of study.

Students for Master and Ph.D. programs who have the following also can be accepted in UKM:

• An international candidate who has the academic qualifications obtained from any local universities recognized by the Senate may be exempted from the English requirements in UKM.
• For an international candidate who will be writing his thesis/ dissertation in the Malay/ Arabic languages, may be exempted from the English requirements. 

NOTE: If you do not have one of the above English requirements, you are not eligible to apply for UKM University (you can apply to other universities which provide English Course or apply to English language institutes to get your IELTS)
