University Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP)

About UniMAP: University Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) is Malaysia’s 17th public institution of higher learning. It was approved by the Malaysian Cabinet in May 2001. Originally known as Kolej Universiti Kejuruteraa Utara Malaysia (KUKUM), or Northern Malaysia University College of Engineering, it was renamed as Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) in February 2007. Currently, UniMAP has approximately 13,488 students and a workforce of more than 2,193 academic and non-academic staff members. It offers 25 undergraduate programmes that lead to Bachelor in Engineering, 13 undergraduate programmes that lead to an Engineering Technology degree and two undergraduate programmes that lead to a Bachelor in Business. We also offer six Diploma in Engineering programmes and 39 postgraduate programmes that lead to Masters and PhD degrees.

Location of University Malaysia Perlis: UniMAP is located in Perlis. The smallest state in Malaysia, Perlis lies at the northern part of the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia. It is bordered by Thailand’s Satun and Songkhla provinces to the north and the Malaysian state of Kedah to the south.

Academic Requirement for admission in University Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP )
Diploma

National Secondary School Certificates (or an Advanced Level or the equivalent of 12 years of basic education) with the grade 80% and above.

Bachelor Programs

National Higher School Certificate (or an Advanced Level or the equivalent of 12 years of basic education) with the grade 80% and above. 

or

A Diploma from recognised Institutions with at least a CGPA of 3.00.

Note : Some programmes are required applicant to undergo an interview session before being accepted

Master Programs (Coursework)
  • A Bachelor Degree in Engineering or related fields with a CGPA of at least 2.5 from recognised University by the government AND approved by Senate;

    OR

  • A Bachelor Degree in Engineering or related fields with a CGPA of at least 2.0 from recognized University by the government AND has at least 5 years working experience in related field AND approved by Senate AND pass the interview to enrol into Master of Business Administration
Master Programs (Research)
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with or equivalent from an approved University in an area relevant to the candidate’s area of research or study;

    OR

  • Other equivalent qualification approved by the Senate.
PHD programs
  • A Master’s degree in Engineering with or equivalent from an approved University in an area relevant to the candidate’s area of research or study;

    OR

  • Other equivalent qualification approved by the Senate.

 

English Language requirement for Admission in University Malaysia Perlis ( UNIMAP ):
International students should meet any one of the following English requirements set by the university before they are accepted for admission in the UniMAP study programmes.
